The megaupload comeback?!

... and that's not the only one, because i'm gonna make one, too. On this Blog.
Even though i would say: "Don't call it a comeback, i've been here for years." Yeah sorry. I had to make that reference.

First off, i want to apologize for my lack of posts lately. I'm currently running another blog that is rather popular, so i more or less had to neglect this Blog right here. But i'll try to provide you with some more posts on this Blog, as well.

Anyways i was browsing the web a few days ago and i found out that Megaupload was shut down. True, this message is kinda old now, but there are some news concerning the founder "Tim Schmitz" and megaupload in general. I watched a Video about the current situation and i didn't really get all the stuff about the litigation, it sounded kinda difficult.

Filesharing in general

But what i did understand is this: Over the course of 5 years "Ludwig Maximilians Universität" Munich along with the Copenhagen Business school investigated the sales of movies within 49 countries. And they came to the conclusion that sales from indipendent film companies were affected by the closure of megaupload. Not affected were, of course, blockbusters, but that's not really a surprise, since they have huge amounts of money and they can easily spend it on commercials and stuff. So filesharing isn't always as bad, is it?

Another funny thing concerning file hosting: In Japan they passed a new law concerning "illegal downloads."
They also did a survey about one week after the law was passed. Guess what they found out? Yes, people spend less money on Music. Think about that.

The MEGAUPLOAD comeback?

But back to Megaupload.
It seems like Kim Schmitz is already at it again. He coded a new side already and said that the code is finished to about 90% by now. The name of the page is "MEGA."
What? No, i don't like the name, it is literally called "MEGA."
He also says that it will revolutionize the film and music business. Those are big words, right?
The launch for this page is supposed to be at the 19th of January. And if you look at the page you get even more excited, because if you hover over the large red button in the middle of the screen it says
"ON JANUARY 19th THIS BUTTON WILL CHANGE THE WORLD"

I'm really curious about this, especially if he says that this page will "revolutionize the film and music industry."
I don't know why, but somehow i got a strange feeling about this.
If you want to take a look at the page, there you go:

http://mega.co.nz/

Notice the big "WE PROMISE WE DELIVER ~ BIGGER. BETTER. FASTER. STRONGER. SAFER"... now honestly... you think the same, don't you? Probably the perfect filehoster to upload porn to, isn't it? The catchphrase just fits perfectly."

I also checked out the button "How the new MEGA will work" and it sounds really cool.
The key part about "Easy privacy" that says
"You hold the keys to what you store in the
cloud, not us."
Sounds perfect, doesn't it?
But really, check out the other cateogies under the "How the new MEGA will work" button, it sounds very promising so far.
